What do IT professionals do?

We are diverse group made up of those who specialise in software and hardware.

Software is all the applications that run on a computer. For example, your patient management system (PMS). (And by the way, one of the things that you can’t get away from is that we like to use acronyms). Hardware is anything that you can touch, from phones to computers, to video conference to facsimile machines.

There are lots of different applications and devices, so as a professional group we have a lot of different skills. Each will have a main area of expertise and often knowledge in one or many other areas. In a sense we are called to be Jacks of all Trades and a Master of one.

Our aims:

  • Are to provide technical support to other staff, so that patients can receive the best possible care.
  • We also make sure that patient information is kept safe.
  • We aim to provide all staff with the IT tools that they need to do their jobs and are very focused on this.
