APEX Associate Membership

APEX Associate Membership is free for all students studying to join a profession covered by APEX and are not currently performing any paid work under that profession. This includes those studying to become a:

  • Medical laboratory scientist;
  • Medical imaging technologist;
  • Radiation therapist;
  • Medical physicist;
  • Psychologist;
  • Psychotherapist;
  • Anaesthetic technician;
  • Pharmacist;
  • Dietitian;
  • Occupational therapist;
  • Social worker; or
  • Oral health therapist.

As an associate member of APEX, you will receive information and newsletters about issues and information relevant to your transition into the paid allied, scientific, and technical workforce including collective bargaining, professional and workforce development, health and safety as well as important advice about what to expect and know when you start your career.

  • All APEX associate members (excluding social workers) are also eligible for free professional indemnity insurance through New Zealand Medical Indemnity Insurance (NZMII) for all work they do during a university placement. NZMII currently insures over 4,000 health practitioners. For more information please email general@nzmii.co.nz.

You will also get access to advice and support about any issues relating to work you do during placements as a student for Te Whatu Ora or other employers.
