Biomedical Engineers & Tradespersons
About the Clinical Technicians and Trades division
Biomedical (or Clinical) Engineers and Technicians and Tradespeople are a vital part of the health workforce as they repair and maintain medical equipment and hospital facilities relied on by clinicians and patients.
APEX has been representing Biomedical/Clinical members since 2016. The first APEX – Waikato biomedical technicians’ collective agreement was negotiated in 2017, with coverage being extended to MidCentral in 2022. Our current collective agreement with Te Whatu Ora covers members in Waikato and MidCentral Districts.
The Waikato Trades team joined in 2019 and, following protracted bargaining negotiations, which involved significant industrial action, ratified their first collective agreement in 2021.
As well as improving terms and conditions through collective bargaining, APEX assists our Biomedical and Trades members with all aspects of their employment, including individual employment issues and restructuring.
If you’re a Biomedical/Clinical Engineer or Technician or a Tradesperson working in the health sector and are interested in learning more about the benefits of APEX membership, please get in touch with trades@apex.org.nz or biomed@apex.org.nz
