Physiotherapists

Since 2004, APEX has represented physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants employed in the public health sector.

Our Health New Zealand collective agreement covers physiotherapists across Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty Districts.

Physiotherapists are a key workforce in rehabilitation and physical therapy, and assessment, diagnosis and treatment of physical conditions including musculoskeletal and respiratory. However, vacancy rates in the public sector remain high.

Physiotherapists’ expertise and knowledge are especially important to meet the increasing demand for orthopaedic services.

Recognising and remunerating advanced practice and specialist physiotherapists in the public health sector will help ensure the health system has the workforce capability to keep New Zealanders healthy at home and in hospital.
