APEX represents Managers and IT workers across both Private and Public employment. Some are covered under APEX collective agreements or provided advocacy in enforcement of the terms and conditions of an Individual Employment Agreement (IEA). Since April 2025, 30 Counties Managers have joined, and we have since initiated bargaining for this groups’ first collective agreement with Health NZ.
The key issues we are seeking to improve include:
- Support for individual employment issues and change management.
- Recognition for increasing workloads, both in quantity and complexity.
- Work life balance.
- Certainty around salary increases and progression.
The coverage we are seeking encompasses General Managers, Operations Managers, Service Managers, Project Managers, and Functional Managers with no direct reports, as well as any employees substantially employed as one of the aforementioned titles but who may, from time to time, use a different title. The only exclusions for coverage are all clinical and managerial employees currently covered by another APEX Agreement, and employees with a nursing title.
We’ve also had interest from Managers in other Districts and from the Private Sector.
