Laboratory Workers’ Picket Awanui Conference

Collective bargaining negotiations between APEX and Awanui, the largest private laboratory provider in the country, have come to a standstill over the principal issue of pay. This Wednesday, the 20th of September there will be a full 24-hour withdrawal of labor by APEX members at all South Island, Wellington region and Hawkes Bay Awanui Laboratories.
There are pickets planned across the country with the focal point being a picket outside of Awanui’s annual laboratory conference COLAB in wellington. COLAB is an expensive exercise that Awanui has made the decision to continue this year in spite of their apparent inability to pay their workers a fair and reasonable wage.
